Vol. 270 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Garda Cars.

139.

asked the Minister for Justice the consultation he has had with the Garda Síochána regarding the recently acquired 8 h.p. car; and how it would function if it had to pursue a car with treble that capacity.

The Deputy is, I presume, referring to small vans which have recently been fitted out by the Garda for "scene-of-crime" work. Quite obviously these vans are not intended for use as suggested by the Deputy. The decision in this matter was made by the Garda themselves and I do not see the need for any consultation with me in regard to it.
