Vol. 270 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dental Education.

82.

asked the Minister for Education if he intends using part of the £17 million World Bank loan to deal with the crisis in dental education in Ireland.

Mr. R. Burke

The loan recently negotiated by my Department with the World Bank is in respect of stated projects. None of these projects relates to dental education.

Is the Minister aware of the serious position obtaining in the Dublin Dental Hospital and in the dental hospital in Cork where there is doubt about the hospital? In view of this, would the Minister seek a separate loan to finance these hospitals?

Mr. R. Burke

I am aware of the point made by the Deputy about the position of the dental hospitals. I will bear his point of view in mind in any future loan negotiations.
