Vol. 270 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Garda Strength.

123.

asked the Minister for Justice the present strength of the Garda force at Crumlin Garda Station, Dublin.

The present strength at Crumlin station is 62.

Is the Minister satisfied, in view of the amount of crime and vandalism in the area, that the Garda strength is sufficient?

The strength in the station has been increased and it is intended to increase it further. I hope that a proportion of the extra number of gardaí to be recruited will be allocated to that station. The strength in the Dublin stations is being kept under review by the Garda authorities.

124.

asked the Minister for Justice the present strength of the Garda force at Clondalkin Garda Station, Dublin; and if he intends to increase the strength of the force of that station.

The present Garda strength at Clondalkin is 38, an increase of five on this time last year.

The question of further strength increases is a matter for the Commissioner, who will have regard to the police needs of the area when allocating the extra gardaí who are to become available in the months ahead.
