Vol. 270 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dog Licence Fees.

120.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will increase the dog licence fee to £1 except in the case of blind persons and old age pensioners and make the receipts from the increase available to the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to enable them to deal with the problem of stray and unwanted dogs.

Consideration is at present being given to improving the means by which the problem of stray and unlicensed dogs can be dealt with. The possibility of increasing the dog licence fee is one of the matters being considered.
