Vol. 271 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cancer Diagnosis.

34.

asked the Minister if he was aware of reports (details supplied) regarding diagnosis of cancer; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have seen the report to which the Deputy refers; it urged that family doctors should at all times be on the alert for early signs and symptoms of cancer and stated that the earlier the diagnosis the better the prognosis.

The facilities are there to deal with this problem and I also would urge members of the public to co-operate in a reasonable and sensible way so far as diagnosis and treatment is concerned.
