Vol. 271 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Care of Elderly.

46.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why a person in Dublin (details supplied) was not allowed a grant in respect of the provision of care for an elderly person.

A calim by the pensioner referred to in the question for the increase in old age pension payable in respect of a prescribed relative was disallowed by the decision of a deciding officer in November, 1972, and the decision was subsequently confirmed on appeal. The claim was disallowed on the ground that the second person referred to in the question in respect of whom the increase had been sought was not a prescribed relative within the statutory definition.
