Vol. 271 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Lands.

10.

asked the Minister for Lands why the Land Commission did not provide any land for a family (name supplied) in County Mayo during recent land redistribution in the Claremorris area.

(Cavan): The selection of allottees is a matter that is reserved exclusively to the Land Commissioners.

In the present instance I am informed that an application from the family mentioned was fully considered in connection with the recent disposal of lands in the Claremorris area but, having regard to the limited area available for distribution and the claims of other deserving applicants living nearer the lands, it was not found possible to provide the family in question with an allotment.

11.

asked the Minister for Lands if he has any plans to provide an alternative holding and dwelling for a person in County Mayo (name supplied).

(Cavan): The Land Commission are having inquiries made in the case of the person referred to. Until such time as these inquiries have been completed it is not possible to indicate what action, if any, the Land Commission may take in the matter.
