Vol. 271 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kildare Council Staff.

12.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will permit Kildare County Council to appoint extra staff so that housing loans and grants may be paid more quickly.

With regard to the creation of offices in grades for which sanction is required, I sanctioned recently a proposal by Kildare County Council to create one new office of development inspector, the duties of which include the inspection of houses for the purpose of certifying house-purchase loans and supplimentary housing grants. I have asked that certain aspects of the proposal be reconsidered and am awaiting the views of the local authority. There are no other staffing proposals before my Department for the purpose in question.
