Vol. 271 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Industrial Development.

1.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will ensure that all possible facilities by way of grants, etc., will be made available in respect of any major industry proposed for the Listowel area in County Kerry.

I am concerned to ensure that every encouragement will be given for any sound industrial project for Listowel.

The actual grant offered to any particular industry will, of course, be related to the Industrial Development Authority's estimate of the quality of the industry and the benefits it offers to the country and the region. As the Deputy is no doubt aware, Listowel is a designated area in which a higher range of incentives is available.

I have been informed that the Industrial Development Authority is at present in touch with several companies who are interested in the Listowel area. I would emphasise, however, that discussions are at a very preliminary stage.
