Vol. 272 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Social Insurance Fund.

11.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will give an estimate for the year ended 31st December, 1974, of the income to the social insurance fund and the percentage to be contributed by (a) the employer (b) the employee and (c) the Exchequer.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

Social Insurance Fund

Year

Income

Percentage Contributed by Employers

Percentage Contributed by Employees

Percentage Contributed by Exchequer

£

Ended 31st December 1974 (Estimated)

129,064,000

40.19

31.05

28.04

There is no accounting period covering the 12 months ending 31st December, 1974. The estimate above represents 25 per cent of the income of the social insurance fund for the year 1973-74 plus the estimated income of the fund, for the nine months April-December, 1974, which is a special accounting period to facilitate the change to calendar year accounting from January, 1975.
