Vol. 272 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Conservation Policies.

39.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether national policies on conservation will require local participation for their successful implementation.

I presume that the question relates to conservation of buildings of some kind but I am not quite sure what is intended by "local participation". I accept that public understanding and support can be helped to secure the implementation of policies on conservation.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary state if he is satisfied that the various local authorities and local voluntary bodies are co-operating as much as they should in these matters?

We are quite happy with the situation.
