Vol. 272 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway School.

49.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is yet in a position to indicate whether the successful tenderer for improvements to Castlegar National School, County Galway, intends to proceed with the work at an early date.

Mr. Kenny

The successful tenderer has completed the deed of contract and the manager, the contractor and a representative of the Office of Public Works are meeting on the site today with a view to getting work started as early as possible.

When I put down a question previously about this the Parliamentary Secretary indicated that he would make inquiries as to whether the contractor would proceed immediately. Is he now satisfied that the contractor in question is prepared to go ahead despite the fact that he has other work on hands?

Mr. Kenny

We got no reply from the contractor yet but today the manager, the contractor and an official will meet on the site and they can put it up to him. I will probably get a report and I will communicate with the Deputy as soon as I can after that.
