Vol. 272 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dundalk Regional College.

29.

asked the Minister for Education the number of pupils attending the Regional College, Dundalk, County Louth, from each of the following counties: Cavan, Louth and Monaghan.

The number of students pursuing full time third level courses in Dundalk Regional Technical College from Counties Cavan, Louth and Monaghan are 29, 167 and 52 respectively.

Similar information in relation to part-time students is not readily available but will be forwarded to the Deputy as soon as possible.

Could the Parliamentary Secretary repeat the numbers?

I said 29, 167, 52.

Does the Parliamentary Secretary agree that it is inconvenient to have a regional college situated on the extreme, the very end of the region, out of immediate range of the rest of the region, and would he agree the figures he has given to me confirm this lack of convenience for potential students?

The Deputy should not be so hard on his colleague.

Does the Parliamentary Secretary think he is able to answer or must he call in the first aid services of the Minister for Local Government?

The Deputy was on his feet and I was waiting for him to resume his seat. The question on the Order Paper requested statistical information which I have supplied and I was not asked to supply an interpretation of these statistics. The Deputy is welcome to put any interpretation he wishes on these statistics but if he puts down a question concerning them I will gladly answer it.

I asked a question before but I did not receive a satisfactory answer.

The Deputy did not ask me any such question.

I will put the question to the Parliamentary Secretary on the next occasion.
