Vol. 272 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Employment Officers Allowances.

16.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether he is satisfied with the allowances given to employment exchange officers.

Officers in employment exchanges are members of general Civil Service grades and the allowances payable to them are fixed by the Minister for the public service. The rates of subsistence allowance and certain other allowances payable to them have been fixed in accordance with agreed recommendations of the General Council set up under the scheme of conciliation and arbitration for the Civil Service and I have no power to vary these rates.
