Vol. 272 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - AnCO Training Centre.

35.

asked the Minister for Labour if AnCO propose to establish a training centre at Finglas, Dublin.

AnCO's recently published expansion programme for 1974-78 envisages the provision of additional training facilities in the Dublin area. The location of the additional facilities is at present being studied.

Would the Minister accept that, having regard to the density of industry in the Finglas area, there should not be any question of studying its suitability?

There is no question about the general need in Dublin for expanded training facilities but quite a lot of consideration is being given to a more suitable location.

Would the Minister himself—from his own knowledge of the Dublin position—accept that the Finglas-Ballymun-Cabra area would have a greater claim on this training centre than would, say, Foxrock or a large area of the south side of the city?

Yes, but the Deputy will appreciate that quite a lot of attention must be given to the correct location of the additional facilities which everyone agrees are necessary in the Dublin area. We are giving serious consideration to a decision in this area and I imagine a decision should be made shortly.
