Vol. 273 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - CIE Pensions Board.

25.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the present composition of the CIE pensions board; and if he has any proposals for the reorganisation of the board.

There is no specific body known as the CIE Pensions Board. There are, however, trustees for the statutory superannuation schemes.

Under the rules of the CIE superannuation schemes CIE may, with my prior approval, appoint trustees to these superannuation schemes. The names of the present trustees are: Mr. F. Lemass, Mr. M. Hayes, Mr. P. Murphy. Proposals have been made to me for the replacement of these trustees by a limited liability company. These proposals are being considered.

Would the Minister impress on CIE, if this board is being reformed, the importance of putting members of some of the various unions involved in CIE on it?

That is one of the matters that will be considered when it is being reformed.
