Vol. 273 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Public Service Department Activities.

35.

asked the Minister for the Public Service if the trade union movement has objected to any of the activities of his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am not aware of any such objection from the trade union movement generally. My Department's functions include dealing with staff claims which are being continually processed on a wide variety of topics. I am glad to say that most matters at issue are settled by agreement and a residue under adjudication procedures.

There was a report in the news media or in the newspapers to the effect that there was concern about the Minister's activity — there is no foundation for this report?

There is no foundation for the allegation that we are aware of.
