Vol. 273 No. 6

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Authority Tenant's Payments.

16.

asked the Minister for Local Government the amount payable weekly in lieu of rent and rates by a tenant with a wife and four school-going children who has a weekly income of £20 and who occupies a recently completed three-bedroom local authority house in (a) Dublin (b) Cork (c) Limerick and (d) Galway.

The weekly rent payable under the new National Differential Rent Scheme is £1.57p per week. The amount payable in lieu of rates depends on the rateable valuation of the dwelling, the rates waiver scheme in operation in the area and other factors which might influence the local authority's decision in the future.
