Vol. 273 No. 7

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Road Improvement.

38.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has approved plans for much needed road improvements at Hart's Corner, Glasnevin, Dublin.

Proposals for an improvement scheme for this location are at present under active consideration at technical level between my Department and the Corporation.

Does the Minister agree that this application should be dealt with as a matter of priority?

I assure the Deputy that it is, but there are complications and it might be better if I dealt with them. The proposal which has been put up would involve the demolition of ten houses, it would affect the gardens of 11 other houses and two other houses would be affected to varying degrees. We have asked the corporation to provide a scheme which would not do that kind of damage. That is one of the main reasons for the hold-up.

In view of the anticipated delay, would the Minister make representations to the Minister for Transport and Power in connection with the commuter service for people in that area?

I listen with interest to Deputy Tunney talking about the Minister for Transport and Power.
