Vol. 273 No. 7

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Electricity Supply.

12.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he is aware that an estimate of over £600 has been quoted to extend electricity to a person (name supplied) in Macroom, County Cork; and if he will have this estimate investigated with a view to having it reduced.

I am informed by the ESB that the premises in question are included in the board's Ballyvourney rural area where development work under the final phase of the rural electrification scheme has been completed since 1972. The appropriate unsubsidised terms for supply were recently quoted which included a capital contribution of £667.19 inclusive of VAT. This contribution was based on the cost of making supply available which will involve the erection of 400 metres of high tension line, 50 metres of low tension line, a 5 KVA transformer together with a service and meter. The terms quoted are the lowest available in the circumstances and cannot be reduced.
