Vol. 273 No. 13

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Deserted Wife's Allowances.

3.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why an applicant (name supplied) in County Donegal has been refused a deserted wife's allowance.

The application for deserted wife's allowance made by the person named by the Deputy was rejected on the ground that she did not satisfy the condition which requires that she must make, and continue to make, reasonable efforts within the means available to her to prevail on her husband to contribute towards the support and maintenance of her and her children. The applicant has stated that she is dissatisfied with this decision and a form on which to state the facts and contentions on which she relies in support of her appeal has been issued to her. On return of this form her case will be submitted to an appeals officer.
