Vol. 274 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Harbours.

16.

asked the Minister for Finance when work is likely to commence on the development of Belderrig harbour, County Mayo.

(Cavan): Recently a deputation of local fishermen made known to me their views as to the development of Belderrig harbour, and I have had these passed to the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for consideration. This will necessarily take time, and I cannot at this stage say if or when they can be implemented.

17.

asked the Minister for Finance when work will be completed on the main harbour at Clare Island, County Mayo.

(Cavan): I regret I cannot say when this work may be completed. A contract was placed by the Commissioners of Public Works on 21st August, 1972, but unforeseen difficulties have arisen in regard to the completion of the work. Efforts are being made to resolve these as quickly as possible, so that the work can be resumed.

18.

asked the Minister for Finance when he proposes to advertise for tenders in respect of Ballyglass harbour, County Mayo.

(Cavan): The contract documents for works at Ballyglass harbour have recently been sent to Mayo, County Council. Tenders will be invited when the council have approved the documents and agreed to make the contribution required towards the estimated cost of the works.
