Vol. 274 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Television Transmitter Interference.

38.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware of the serious interruptions from foreign stations at present affecting the signal from the television transmitter at Maghera, County Clare; and the steps he has taken to remedy the situation.

I am aware that reception from this transmitter is subject to interference at certain times, particularly during the summer, from foreign television stations.

RTE plan to improve reception in the area as part of the large scale programme for improving reception which I mentioned in my opening speech on my Department's Estimate on 30th May, 1974.

Can the Minister give any indication when this will be done?

Radio Telefís Éireann do not expect the reception problems in this area to be resolved before 1977.
