Vol. 274 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Oibre Publication.

20.

asked the Minister for Finance when the next issue of Oibre will be published.

The next issue of Oibre is expected to be published in the autumn.

Why has there been such a delay in having another publication of this very fine magazine?

Mr. Kenny

There is no delay because this is only an occasional journal published at no fixed intervals. This was originally established in 1964. In the prelude to the first issue the then Parliamentary Secretary, the late Donough O'Malley, said that the aim was to produce one or two issues each year. Since then ten issues have been published and the eleventh is now being published. Preliminary work has been done. The material has been sent to the Stationery Office and we are arranging to print 3,000 copies. The up-to-date forecast is that it will be published in the autumn.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary agree that it would be desirable to get two issues of this magazine published each year? I know there may be staff problems but would he make it the target to try to get two issues each year?

Mr. Kenny

I will endeavour to do that.
