Vol. 274 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Liberties (Dublin) Development.

7.

asked the Minister for Local Government if there are any proposals before him for redevelopment of the Liberties, Dublin.

There are no proposals before me from Dublin Corporation for the redevelopment of the Liberties area. I would, however, point out for the Deputy's information that the National Building Agency, at the request of Dublin Corporation, are preparing plans for a housing scheme on a site in the Coombe-Newmarket area.

The housing scheme which the Minister referred to could not be deemed to be redevelopment of the Liberties area, surely?

I would not know.

That is not a question, Deputy.

All I know is that they have been asked to develop the scheme and I would imagine that in an area where there was housing previously any new scheme would be a redevelopment.
