Vol. 274 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Motor Taxation Office.

11.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will request Dublin Corporation to relocate the motor taxation office at a more convenient place.

The provision of premises for motor taxation work is a matter for the licensing authority concerned. I am aware that they are conscious of the current problems associated with the existing office and the making of a request as suggested by the Deputy is not necessary. I might add they are taking all steps to acquire premises.

May I ask the Minister if there was a proposal put before him regarding the establishment of a second licensing office in the South Dublin area?

No. I had a question about that last week and I said it was not suggested that this should be done. that one large central office should meet the requirements, and that those who found it difficult to get to that office for parking or other reasons could post in their applications, which would receive, perhaps, quicker attention than if they went in themselves.

The Minister got no suggestion about Dundrum?

No. It would cost a great deal of money to run another office for dealing with the business which can be done by one office.

Was there a suggestion made to the Minister about an office in Dundrum?

That is a separate question.

No. There was a question last week. It is not in this question.
