Vol. 274 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fertiliser Subsidies.

19.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries his plans regarding the maintenance of the subsidy on fertilisers.

20.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the position concerning future subsidies on lime and superphosphate.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 19 and 20 together.

The maintenance of such subsidies is not in question.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary give us information from the tabular statement?

On a point of order.

Please, Deputies.

(Interruptions.)

Did I hear you rule that supplementaries on a reply which was in the form of a tabular statement were not in order?

No. I said it was rather unusual. Those were the words I used.

Surely the reply to No. 18, which we could not hear, was not in the form of a tabular statement. There were only two figures required.

I have been dealing with Question No. 20.

Nos. 17 and 18 were answered——

Nos. 19 and 20 were answered together.

——and for Deputy Colley's information there are 17 figures and not two.

While the price of fertilisers——

This is Question No. 21.

I have answered No. 20, Sir.

This is becoming a farce.

It is not, if Deputies would behave themselves.

I shall answer Questions Nos. 19 and 20 again:

"The maintenance of such subsidies is not in question".

(Interruptions.)
