Vol. 274 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Airport Police.

26.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he is aware of the dissatisfaction among members of the airport police force at Dublin Airport at the present methods of appointing untrained and inexperienced industrial guards at strategic security points in the airport; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am informed by Aer Rianta Teo. that they propose to introduce industrial security guards at a number of fixed posts at Dublin Airport which control access to restricted areas. Those appointed will be given appropriate training. The proposals are the subject of discussions with the trade unions representing members of the airport police/ fire service.
