Vol. 274 No. 13

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 4, 12, and in No. 12 Vote 3 (resumed), 5 and 6. By agreement it is proposed to interrupt business at 1 p.m. to take Nos. 5 and 6 and to resume the Order afterwards. By agreement it is also proposed that the final Opposition speaker will be called not later than 3 p.m. and the final Government speaker not later than 4 p.m. The Dáil on rising today will adjourn until Wednesday, 23rd October, 1974.

Nos. 4, 12 Vote 3 (resumed), 5 and 6.

What became of the persistence and insistence of the Labour Party that we should have much earlier resumptions after the summer recess?

Does the Leader of the Opposition want to come back next week? He was very anxious not to continue next week.

It is a question of sincerity. When the Labour Party were in Opposition they were belabouring us about it.

You wanted to sit all night and would not come back next week and now you are complaining about resuming next October. You will get your "bellyful" of it before the year is out.

(Interruptions.)

Might I ask how it is that it is impossible to start the day's work here without some tuppenny-ha'penny row being raised by the Leader of the Opposition?

I had not finished. May I complete the Order of Business?

We would like a bit of consistency, anyway.

I had not completed the Order of Business.

(Interruptions.)

By agreement it is proposed to have the final Opposition speaker on the Adjournment debate called upon not later than 3 p.m. and the final Government speaker to reply to the debate not later than 4 p.m. The Dáil, on its rising today, will adjourn until Wednesday 23rd October, 1974.
