Vol. 275 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Meath-Kildare Motorway.

5.

asked the Minister for Local Government when it is likely that the new motorway which it is proposed to run through portion of Counties Meath and Kildare will be commenced.

I assume that the Deputy is referring to the investigation which is proceeding on the merits of developing a new road line from Dublin to Kilcock. It will be a matter, in the first instance, for the road authorities concerned to consider the results of this investigation and to decide on the standard of any new road which may be found necessary. It is not possible for me at this stage, therefore, to forecast when work on such a project might commence.

Will the Minister state if the results of that investigation have been made available to the local authorities in question?

The investigation is proceeding on the merits of developing a new road line from Dublin to Kilcock.

That was three years ago.

It was three years before the change of Government.

This is symptomatic of the type of exit and entry roads in the radius of the city of Dublin——

It is nearly as bad as Bray.

I agree with the Minister, but all of us know what the Coalition did with the Bray road.

If the Deputy would ask a precise supplementary question he would be in order.

Will the Minister state when the Dublin to Kilcock road will be completed?

The question refers to Counties Meath and Kildare. I am calling Question No. 6.

The Minister does not seem to care.

I care a lot more than the Deputy.

This is most disorderly. I have called Question No. 6.
