Vol. 275 No. 6

Written Answers. - Oil Taxation Revenue.

374.

asked the Minister for Finance the total revenue derived from all forms of taxation on oil and oil by-products for the periods 1st January to 30th September, 1973, and 1st January to 30th September, 1974.

The Deputy will appreciate that the forms which oil by-products take are numerous and it would not be practicable to furnish the information sought in respect of so wide a range of goods without an undue expenditure of time. I can, however, furnish data which in broad terms relate to the customs and excise revenue from mineral fuels and oils and from the main products of their distillation. The revenue derived from these sources was approximately £44 million in each of the two periods mentioned.

The figures given do not include the revenue from value-added tax. Separate figures of receipts from this tax in respect of the items mentioned are not available.
