Vol. 275 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Shannon Flooding Compensation.

20.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will arrange to have compensation paid to farmers in the area of Clonown, Athlone, County Westmeath who have suffered losses in the recent Shannon floodings.

There are no funds available from which compensation can be provided to farmers affected by flooding or other natural hazards.

Farmers in the area mentioned will, however, be able to avail of the two measures which I have announced to assist farmers under £50 valuation to purchase feedingstuffs.
