Vol. 275 No. 7

Written Answers. - Agricultural Workers' Holidays.

453.

asked the Minister for Labour when it is proposed to apply the provisions of the Holidays Act, 1973, to agricultural workers.

The Holidays of agricultural workers are covered by the Agricultural Workers (Holidays) Act, 1969. Following discussions which I have had with the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, I understand that he will shortly bring this Act into line with the Holidays (Employees) Act, 1973, which covers industrial workers generally.

I have had discussions with the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries on the future of the Agricultural Wages Board which covers the working conditions of agricultural workers generally. Following these discussions, the Minister for Agriculture has written to the farming organisations involved proposing the establishment of a Joint Labour Committee by the Labour Court for agricultural workers.
