asked the Minister for Defence the basic rates of wages, wage adjustments and overtime rates of non-craftsmen civilian employees of his Department in the form of a reply of 4th February, 1969.

The following is the information requested in so far as rates of pay are concerned. Wage adjustments are made from the appropriate dates for the various classes, in accordance with the Employer-Trade Union National Agreement 1974.

NOTES: In addition to the basic weekly wages shown—

(i) Service Pay (25p to £1.00—men: 20p to 80p—women) is payable to all classes except those marked*;

(ii) a differential of 40p per week is payable, after 6 month's service to the classes marked†.

Overtime Rates

Overtime rates of non-craftsmen civilian employees in so far as the rates can readily be supplied are as indicated in reply to question No. 255 of 24th July, 1973, with the exception of employees paid the Building Trade Labourers rate, and allied classes. In these cases overtime rates were revised as follows, with effect from 21st May, 1973 for authorised extra attendance:

Monday to Friday—Time-and-a-half from normal stopping time to midnight, and thereafter at double time.

Saturday and Sunday—Time-and-a-half for the first four hours from normal starting time on Saturday, and thereafter at double time until normal starting time on Monday.
