Vol. 275 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Lager Prices.

11.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce why a pint of lager is controlled at 24p in Droichead Nua, County Kildare but is allowed to be sold at 33p in a public bar in Dublin.

Inquiries made by inspectors of my Department in regard to the price of a pint of lager in public bars in Dublin indicate that the price of 33p quoted by the Deputy is above the general level, and may be an isolated instance. In regard to drink prices generally, the National Prices Commission in their monthly report for July, 1974 set out certain proposals which are under examination, and stated that they proposed to spell out these proposals in more detail in their October report by naming the products for which basic maximum prices should be fixed and indicating the maximum prices which should be fixed for them in the Dublin area, the larger cities and towns and the rest of the country. There is no fixed maximum retail price for drink in the Dublin area at present.

Has the Minister answered Question No. 10?

It has been disposed of.

I did not hear it. The question relates to the Glenfarne clay pipe factory, County Sligo.

We cannot go back on the question.

I only know of the Glenfarne brick factory in County Leitrim. Perhaps this is a new one that has been started.

We have long since passed that question.

Glenfarne is in Leitrim and they do not make clay pipes.

On a point of order, the Minister gave a reply——

I cannot go back to an earlier question. I have called Question No. 12 and Question No. 12 it shall be.
