Vol. 276 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dáil Tape Recording.

10.

asked the Minister for Finance the total amount spent to date on the proposal to tape record debates.

The total amount spent on foot of the decision taken in March, 1972, on the installation of tape recording facilities in the Dáil was £6,200.

Will the Minister state why it has not been put into operation?

This is a matter for the Ceann Comhairle and the House, not for the Minister for Finance. I have no information on the matter.

The money has been spent and apparently the machinery has been installed. Is there any reason why we cannot put it into operation?

I think the Deputy might direct that question to the Committee on Procedure and Privileges who are the relevant authority.
