Vote No. 9 is required in respect of additional capital for national school buildings and to meet the increase in the cost of maintenance, fuel, and so on.
Vote No. 51 is required to meet increases in pensions and certain improvements in superannuation and retired allowances, payment of which was made from 1st July instead of 1st October.
The Supplementary Estimates will be circulated this evening and I suggest that the Supplementary Estimate for Public Works and Buildings be taken tomorrow and the Supplementary Estimate covering increases in pensions and certain improvements in superannuation and retired allowances be taken with the Finance and Public Service Estimates.
