Vol. 276 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Reclamation and Drainage.

18.

asked the Minister for Lands if, in view of the fact that about four million acres of land in Ireland are still in need of reclamation and drainage, he will increase the level of his Department's activities in this field.

(Cavan): While the Land Commission occasionally dig or clear minor drains and carry out some reclamation work for the improvement of land which they are dividing, they do not normally undertake major drainage or reclamation work such as the Deputy appears to have in mind.
