Vol. 276 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - European Progress.

21.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if the Government propose to support proposals for Europe +30 concerning developments which are likely to affect the progress of Europe over the next 30 years.

Pursuant to a resolution of the Council of Ministers on 14th January last, to which we were a party, preparatory studies in relation to the project known as Europe +30 are being conducted under the aegis of the CREST, the EEC Senior Officials Committee for Science and Technology, on which we are represented, and are being funded from the EEC budget—that means the inquiries are being funded by the EEC budget to which we contribute. Until the results of this preparatory study are available, which is expected to be some time next summer, it would be premature to take up a position in relation to the project itself.
