Vol. 276 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Shannon Navigation.

147.

asked the Minister for Finance if the priorities for the development of Shannon navigation for 1975 have been agreed with the Boat Rental Association; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Mr. Kenny

The answer is "No", but in drawing up a programme of maintenance and development works for the Shannon navigation each year consideration is given to any requests made for special works by users of the navigation including the Irish Boat Rental Association.

When the Parliamentary Secretary was appointed, there was a very good relationship between the Department and the Boat Rental Association. Is that relationship still being maintained and are they taken into consultation with regard to various works?

Mr. Kenny

I believe that since I succeeded the Deputy, no change has been made in any of the relationships with any association and I think the particular relationship is as good as and if anything, better than it was a year ago.

Does the Parliamentary Secretary go down every year to discuss matters?

Mr. Kenny

Owing to unforeseen circumstances, I was not in a position to go down yet but I will go next summer.

Acting Chairman

The remaining questions will appear on Tuesday's Order Paper, with the exception of any questions to which Deputies would like to have a written answer.
