Vol. 276 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Cattle Testing.

16.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will investigate the reason for the long delays experienced by small farmers in the Ballyconneely area, County Galway, who are awaiting the testing of cattle for TB.

As the Deputy is aware, the testing of herds under the bovine tuberculosis eradication scheme is performed, on behalf of the Department, by private veterinary practitioners, nominated by the herdowners concerned. I have investigated the position in the Ballyconneely area and find that the 1974 round of testing is now virtually complete in this area.
