Vol. 276 No. 13

Ceisteanna — Questions. Written Answers. - Disabled Persons Transport.

101.

(Dublin Central) asked the Minister for Finance if he will consider granting financial aid for the purchase of petrol to disabled persons who depend on motor cars for transport.

At present repayment of customs and excise duty at the rate of 20 pence per gallon, subject to a maximum of 350 gallons per person per year, is made in respect of petrol used in road motor vehicles constructed or adapted for use by disabled persons and which have been exempted from payment of road tax.

Consideration is being given to the possibility of amending the rate of repayment and an announcement will be made in due course.
