Vol. 276 No. 13

Vote 42: Transport and Power.

I move:

That a sum not exceeding £20,629,000 be granted to defray the charge which will come in course of payment during the period commencing on the 1st day of April, 1974, and ending on the 31st day of December, 1974, for the salaries and expenses of the Office of the Minister for Transport and Power, including certain services administered by that Office, and for payment of sundry grants-in-aid.

I should like to ask the Minister if we can expect to discuss the estimate for his Department in the not-too-distant future? Just as is the case in regard to the Labour estimate, we have not had an opportunity to discuss his estimate since I became spokesman on Transport and Power. I appreciate that there were many other reasons why his Department was under discussion here not least of which was the oil situation. But, because the Minister is responsible for something like 16 State or semi-State bodies—if my calculation is correct—the House should be afforded an opportunity of discussing these matters in the not-too-distant future.

I am ready to discuss it any time the Whips agree to have it taken.

Vote put and agreed to.
