asked the Minister for Local Government the total cost, including all allowances and so on, of all journeys outside the State made by him, his Parliamentary Secretary and officials of his Department in the year ended 31st December, 1974.

The total net cost of all journeys outside the State during the year ended 31st December, 1974, was £12,005.20. This consisted of £304.23 for the Minister, nil for the Parliamentary Secretary and £11,700.97 for the officials, mostly for attending OECD conferences.

It does not include the trip to Tenerife?

No. This Government have a very good rule; they pay their own expenses when they are going on holiday.

In the best hotels, of course.
