Vol. 277 No. 8

Appointment of Committee of Public Accounts : Motion.

I move:

That, in pursuance of Standing Order No. 126 of the Standing Orders relative to Public Business, the Committee of Public Accounts be appointed; and

That the Appropriation Accounts, with the Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General for the year ended 31st March, 1973 be referred to the Committee for examination and report.

Will there be any opportunity to debate in the House the report of the Committee which we got this morning? Some of the points raised were important and interesting, particularly in view of the fact that I understand the attendance at the Committee had been limited in the recent past to about four Members from one side of the House.

As the Deputy knows, there is a regular procedure for debating reports of the Public Accounts Committee. There is even an earlier report that has never been discussed by the House, which the Deputy may recollect. If Deputies wish to debate any of the reports there is no problem.

Question put and agreed to.
