Vol. 277 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Dental School.

82.

asked the Minister for Education the steps, if any, he is taking to expedite the building of the new dental school in Cork; and when it is proposed that building work will commence.

Pursuant to the Government decisions announced on 16th December, 1974, work on the planning of the dental hospital and school in Cork has been resumed. It is not possible to say at the moment when the building work on the project will commence.

Is it intended to build the new dental hospital on the site already prepared for it or laid out for it?

The plans which were originally prepared when the matter was put into cold storage in 1971 or 1972 are now being re-examined and, pending completion of that reexamination, I do not think it would be possible for me to make a definitive statement in reply to the Deputy's question.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary like to say why it was necessary to re-examine the plans? Have any circumstances changed?

One could not say that until one had concluded the reexamination.

The remaining questions will appear on next Tuesday's Order Paper.
