Vol. 278 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballinhassig Garda Station.

107.

asked the Minister for Finance when work will commence on the erection of a new Garda barracks at Ballinhassig, County Cork.

108.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the condition of the approaches to the existing Garda Barracks at Ballinhassig, County Cork; and, if so, the plans he has for the improvement of these approaches.

Mr. Kenny

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 107 and 108 together.

Subject to confirmation that a public water supply will be available in the next 12 to 18 months it is intended that tenders for the erection of a new Garda station at Ballinhassig will be invited in about three months' time. Everything going well, work on site should commence about July.

Pending completion of the new building, arrangements are being made to have some improvements carried out to the approach from the public road to the existing station.

On behalf of the people of Ballinhassig, I should like to thank the Parliamentary Secretary. I put down the question in order to give an extra push to improve the Garda station facilities.
