Vol. 278 No. 4

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Board of Conservators Employees.

12.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the number of people employed by the Board of Conservators No. 12 District.

The answer is nine.

Is the Minister aware that this figure of nine includes three people who were dismissed and then re-employed?

Is the Minister aware of a statement made by the Parliamentary Secretary in the Dáil that these people were not suitable for their positions?

I am aware that the Deputy got quite a good deal of mileage on this previously.

I am not looking for mileage. Would the Minister now care on his behalf to withdraw what the Parliamentary Secretary said about the character of these men and their work?

The Deputy's question is purely statistical. He asked for the number of people employed only. I cannot allow an enlargement upon that question.

I read carefully what the Parliamentary Secretary said and he did not refer to the character of the men in any of his replies.

He said they were not suitable and then they were re-employed.
