Vol. 278 No. 4

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Commonage.

51.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will arrange to have the commonage at Abbeyknockmoy, Tuam, County Galway, divided and fenced.

(Cavan): The commonage referred to is one of a number of commonages in County Galway for which applications for division have been received. The applications are being investigated as speedily as possible.

Will the Minister proceed with the matter before the by-election?

(Cavan): It will be proceeded with in the normal way.

Mr. Fitzgerald

Will it be before the by-election?

(Cavan): We will not make any wild promises about it. We will not follow the example of the Deputy's party in days gone by——

These matters are irrelevant to Question No. 51.

What about the closing of the Cork dockyard?

(Cavan): The Deputy's party undertook to carry out such monumental projects as the draining of the Shannon but 20 years later it was not reached.

I am calling Question No. 52.
