Vol. 278 No. 4

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Farm Modernisation Scheme.

4.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries why a person (name supplied) in County Tipperary was not accepted for the purposes of the farm modernisation scheme; and if he will have this case reconsidered.

The chief agricultural officer in each county is responsible for determining the eligibility of applicants to participate in the farm modernisation scheme.

In the case mentioned, the chief agricultural officer has informed the applicant that under the conditions of the scheme, since his main business is outside of farming, he is not eligible to participate. I have no reason to question the CAO's decision.
